Anonymous Surfing (Part -1)

Anonymous Surfing(IP and MAC Spoofing)

We will be following a series of articles one after the other on anonymous surfing.

Why?

Before experimenting with the hacks online, to secure ourselves from the risk involved in performing those hacks should be any hackers first priority. We will be taking a look at different ways in which we can spoof our logical(ip address) as well as physical(mac) addresses with different levels of anonymity they provide.

PROXIES

The first and the most common method hackers adopt with lowest level of anonymity is usage of proxies.

What is a proxy?

A proxy acts as a intermediate for any request or any response a client is suppose to get from internet after a client is connected to the proxy server. So basically when a client requests for http://www.yahoo.com then the request is forwarded to the proxy client is connected to and the proxy sever forwards the request to yahoo.com as a result of this yahoo logs the ip address of the proxy server and not the client.

How?

There are many websites that provide the list of proxy servers available.

generally what I use.

1.http://hidemyass.com/proxy-list/

2.Select an ip from the ip address list.

3.Go to firefox ->options(firefox is the easiest to set up a proxy)

4.Click on Advanced tab->Network tab

5.Click on settings

6.Select manual proxy configuration.

7.Paste the ip address and the port number provided.

Test:

Go to whatismyipaddress.com to check whether the proxy is working perfectly.
